The powdered urea-formaldehyde resin obtained through spray drying is exceptionally stable, and has a shelf life of 12 months when stored in a sealed, dry, and cool environment (below 25°C). Nevertheless, it is susceptible to moisture absorption, caking, and a decline in effectiveness.
Key factors influencing shelf life
The longevity of urea-formaldehyde resin powder primarily depends on the storage temperature and humidity levels.
MAGICOH will maintain its quality for 12 months under the suggested storage conditions. However, is it still usable after this period?
1—If the powder has solidified into cakes and clumps, it is considered to have lost its binding capabilities and is no longer suitable as a feed binder.
2—If the physical characteristics remain unchanged, a brief internal examination and performance evaluation of the material should be conducted prior to making a decision.
(1) Water solubility test: Measure 100 grams of the MAGICOH sample, add 100 milliliters of water, and mix thoroughly. If the sample fails to dissolve, it indicates a loss of binding properties; if it dissolves completely or dissolves well with only a minimal number of tiny surface particles that vanish after standing, proceed to the next step.

(2) Viscosity of the aqueous solution: If a viscous, thread-like solution drips from the stirring rod, it signifies that the sample solution still retains the expected viscosity and performance characteristics, allowing the material to be used for its intended purpose.
